the bells, the bells

Well, they're not quite bells, but rather an alarm which is feeling the need to go on and on and on and on ... It may be a house alarm. It could be a shop on the High Street or a unit on the little industrial estate. It's definitely not a car alarm. Or a smoke alarm. It could be anywhere. That's the problem with rural living. At night, when the Chavs have finally gone to bed to dream of their chavmobiles, when the pubs and take-aways have closed, and the street lights have dimmed to a less harsh brightness, there is no way of knowing where sounds come from. The darkness makes sound travel long distances. Nighttime is daft like that. It teases and plays tricks. Silly nighttime. Nightie-night, Nighttime.

There are so many alarms that people have stopped paying attention to them!!

I know. If I was a good citizen I would have phoned the police and told them an alarm was going off. But then I would have had to say that it could be anywhere within a couple of miles radius and they would just laugh at me. :(

Reminds me of the one place I lived where it was very noisy. Don't get me wrong, I live in a very populated and urben city. However, the apartments around here do very well when it comes to sound proofing. Except, my last apartment, was almost all windows. So we heard everything, literally. And, it was always an echo affect. You never knew where the sound came from.

Oh, I would hate that. At least if I'd closed the window I wouldn't have heard anything ... I just couldn't be bothered to get up and move three feet in order to do so!

@Poppylicious I know I did. But, now it's quiet unless you are by a window or the door. and all I hear is rain or frogs.

Kind of like hearing sirens and trying to figure out if they are going north, south, east or west.

I'm always thankful for blue lights when I'm in the car ... I wouldn't have a clue which direction the noise was coming from otherwise. And I don't even drive. :)
