I’ve heard that French red wines are richer in heart-healthy flavonoids than German red wines, which enables them to boost the special enzyme levels in the body by as much as four times.
There is an enzyme called - endothelial nitric oxide synthase- Whew! That’s a mouthful. Anyway, this particular enzyme is in red wine and it protects blood vessels from clotting and prevents plaque from building up.
So a glass or two of red wine every day is actually good for you.
Maybe you are not a wine drinker. So try some black tea. That’s what Saudis drink – about six cups a day – lowers the coronary heart-disease risks, according to a recent study.
Black tea is loaded with antioxidant flavonoids that reduce the risk of stroke, hardening of the arteries and clotting.
And if you just want to pop a pill, Folic acid, found in B vitamins has also been found to reduce heart attacks.
