Never Fails

I received a letter from Social Security that they are taking $7.00 out of my daughter's SSDI payment for medicare and medicare prescription drugs. The state picks up most of her medicare payments for which I am grateful so I'm not going to complain over that small amount. However, our lot rent just went up about $40.00 which cuts into her Social Security. Always seems you get hit both ways at the same time. I'm rather baffled at the letter I received from Social Security. It read (and I quote) "As L. M. (daughter's initials) requested, we will begin deducting her health plan premiums and prescription drug plan costs from her monthly benefit" Uh, no she didn't request that. I take care of anything to do with her SS. Everything goes through me. Heck, even if they called she would never talk to them. I am her representative payee and I have power of attorney. The fact is the COLA should have been raised just like the last time it wasn't raised. Maybe it's just me but there's something fishy about it not being raised twice during the current administration. My daughter's been on SS since she was four years old and all the time (during Republican and Democrat administrations) it never once failed to get an increase-until B.O. came along.

It does seem very strange. I'm sorry to hear that your daughter's SS is cut while your rent goes up. Life isn't always easy for sure.

@irishidid Sometimes, things like this just aren't a surprise. Hopefully next time, you'll get a little more from your daughter's cheque.
