Is it the right time for Dhoni to retire and Kohli to take over captaincy?

Ravi Shastri today mentioned in an interview, that this is the best time when Kohli can take over the captainship from Dhoni considering the future of Indian cricket in ODIs and T20 and also World Cup 2019. I am little dubious here as I feel Dhoni as captain is hard to replace as he surely is better tactician than Kohli. Kohli is more of one man army and he is the best batsman in world today. Handing over captainship should not affect his batting as what happened with Sachin many years ago. Do you all think Dhoni should continue as captain or should Kohli lead India in all 3 formats, or should we consider someone like Rohit Sharma or Suresh Raina who are more calm and composed than very aggressive Kohli for shorter formats of the game. Kohli sets high standards for himself and others , and sometimes when other cricketers do not match that standards, he gets impatient and restless.

@sabashekh I think Kohli is one man army kind of captain, he backs himself to win the matches for the team. This is a great attitude, but when we talk about captain, we should also look at someone like Darren Sammy who can be equally instrumental even if he do not contribute with bat/ball. I think Dhoni is not just better than Kohli but one of the the all time greats in captains. But the point is, every captain has shelf life of 5-7 years but he has already been captain for 9 years and age is catching up with him and time has come to hand over captaincy to a younger player. Dhoni himself was 25 when he became India's captain.

@sabashekh I agree too, and change is inevitable. Infact if Kohli has to be made captain ,it is the best time, but is Kohli the best man to be the captain is what I pointed.

Dear Avinashji, I think Kohli is a better captain in both one-dayers and tests. In T20s India can have a junior captain like Shikhar dhawan or Murali Vijay. Dhoni should be in the team, but the more he stays as captain, India will be looking backwards. Australia always looked forward like Taylor, to Steve Waugh, to Ricky Ponting, to Clarke.

I feel Dhoni is thinking he may stay as captain till 2019 world cup and I am not sure what selectors feel. By 2019 Kohli would be around 31 years old, which may not be the best age to take over captaincy. I feel it could be either of Raina or Kohli or Rohit Sharma to lead India in ODI

@avi256 Yes Avinashji, I agree with you. India should look forward to young captains.

Dhoni will further deteriorate and Kohli will improve mainly because Dhoni has stopped playing test cricket while Kohli will face tough series/tours in coming years.
