#5 in my Favorite Punk Songs series takes us back to Southern California, specifically Hermosa Beach, where legendary punk band Black Flag was formed.
Guitarist Greg Ginn formed Black Flag in 1976. Over the years, the band has been a seemingly non-stop revolving door of musicians, with Ginn being the only constant. (Notable past band members include Keith Morris, Henry Rollins, Dez Cadena, Kira Roessler, Bill Stevenson, and Chuck Biscuits.)
"TV Party" is one of Black Flag's most popular songs, a humorous, sarcastic commentary on American couch potatoes' addiction to television. According to Wikipedia, the band recorded the song three different times. It appears, in it's various versions, on the 1981album Damaged, the 82 "TV Party EP, and the soundtrack for the 1984 cult classic movie Repo Man.
"TV Party" features, in addition to Ginn, vocalist Rollins, guitarist Cadena, bassist Chuck Dukowski, and drummer Emil Johnson.
(Fun Fact: Infamous parody rapper Blowfly turned "TV Party" into "VD Party" for his album Blowfly's Punk Rock Party.)
"TV Party" is a fun (and funny!) piece of the social commentary for which Black Flag was known. A true punk classic.

@teamfreak16 Ya, I think I counted something like 20 musicians that played for them at one time including Matt Freeman from Rancid and Chuck Biscuits.

Again being from LA, Black Flag is a punk institution. I remember this song well. Henry Rollins remains a local fixture.

Love Henry Rollins. I like to watch his cable show (ironic that the guy who sang "TV Party" now has his own show.)
