Gofundme .....honeymoon

I was just getting ready for bed and had to finish up something on crowdtap which lead me to facebook to get a photo I needed.
Up popped something that a facebook friend shared. I was pretty disgusted seeing it.
A girl who I hate (not a story for mylot) created a gofundme account to try to get people to donate money to her and her new husband so they can go away for a few days on a honeymoon.
From what I heard gofundme was started to help strugging bands. Most of the accounts I see on gofundme are for funeral expenses and cancer patients benefits etc.
I am fine seeing those but I think setting up an accout to get people to donate to your honeymoon is terrible and greedy. Pretty much fits with this girls personality she is a terrible person.

I see all sorts for go fund me like really? I had one who needed money to visit their mother. Like really? You can spend your money on unnessary but you want people to donate for something you should have saved yourself! Emergencies what not understandable!

I agree I think gofundme accounts are begging for money and it really should only be used for what the site originally intended it for and people having to pay medical bills they cant affor due to cancer etc.

@shaggin it's supposed to be a charitable site not a site to be abused by greedy selfish people.

I think maybe the person that you don't like is getting to you probably more than anything else. My husband and I never had a honeymoon. While I wouldn't start a gofundme for that, because that's not something we need-at least she is being honest about it.

@LovingMyBabies They had a wedding / reception thing outside at their parents house. A smaller event. But still I feel they are begging for money for the wrong reasons.

I really hate this girl and there are only a few people in life I truly hate due to things they did to me. But I think anyone who starts a gofundme account for a honeymoon is greedy. She should have received money from her reception apparently she didn't feel it was enough so wants more.

It is terrible and greedy and I would never fund someone who created a gofundme for something like that. I spent my honeymoon in the apartment we lived in and I didn't mind. I mean it wold have been nice to go somewhere, but I knew we couldn't afford to go anywhere, so I dealt with it.

I've seen people post things on GoFundMe asking for money for a vacation, a car, etc. At least they're being honest and not "raising money for a cancer patient" then pocketing the money. But you're right, that is pretty low.

I do know that some of the people I saw from town who are raising money for a cancer patients bills are legit. I know them personally and know that they are really struggling. One little boy is a few hours away at a therapy program right now after having brain cancer. He will never have a normal life like other children. I do not mind seeing the parents post on there as I know they are really good people and truly could use the help.

I've seen worse. I find crowdfunding doesn't work unless you have people who are willing to part with their money that you already know or you have a good sob story. I had neither when I used indiegogo to try to raise money for editing a book.

See gofundme was started for bands so I understand you trying to raise money to edit a book. I agree with what you say. The only person this girl will get donations from is very close friends who couldn't attend her reception I would think. I don't think she has a sob story worthy of donations I think she is just being greedy.

This started as a site for bands to earn money to get started but now people are using it for all kinds of things. Medical bills I understand if they are truly struggling but honeymoons no!

Oh no! people are crazy sometimes, she is going to enjoy her honeymoon on some body else's money!! hmm...people should know for what one should go about asking for donations. Here we have poor children without food and shelter, poor children suffering from diseases, not able to get better treatment and all...

If they're already poor from the 'getgo', what are they doing getting married in the first place. Wait 'til the kids come along...Can anybody say: "Welfare"...?...

Exactly how I feel! They should save up money from working to go on a honeymoon. They should not beg for money to go. They are terrible people so I should not be surprised by this at all. Gofundme is a site where you create a post about why you need donations. It started out as a way for new bands to try to get help for funding for creating cds and promoting etc. Now people use it for all kinds of things. Legit medical bill help for cancer patients and things like that I understand but begging for a honeymoon is ridiculous.
