You can't sleep as long as you keep trying to sleep.You fall asleep only when you become absolutely effortless. Do you agree?

Yes I find if I let my mind go, I eventually can fall asleep my friend. But what a task it is! My mind will not shut off.

@else34 It matters not what I am thinking of, it seems I have no choice but to keep thinking and not sleeping..I wish you well my friend.

@TiarasOceanView One of my friends says I'd better try to keep awake,it would make me fall asleep.

@TiarasOceanView,Me too.I have yet to experience a state of mind when it's absolutely thoughtless.The previous night I was thinking about a hockey match and couldn't know when I fell fast asleep.

@Jessicalynnt,The other day I had the opportunity to attend a lecture by a philosopher.He spoke about being thoughtless.I,for one,never get rid of thoughts.Thoghts come and go.I have observed that I fall asleep when I get focussed on a particular thought.

@Jessicalynnt And I often fall fast asleep while watching a tv serial.However sleep remains elusive at night.

@tech40,No,perhaps the fact is that you can't sleep if your mind,not your body,declines to sleep.

Just dont think about some things that induce awakenness, and you will be able to sleep

I agree. I am up a few nights a week for work and if I am working on a problem for more than 15 minutes, it is going to take sometime for me to fall back to sleep because my mind is thinking about the problem, I need to turn that off before I can fall asleep.

@mypointsju,But does your mind become 'absolutely' thoughtless? You may stop thinking about a particular problem,but how can you stop thinking?How can your mind become absolutely thoughtless?

@else34 I sure can't do the "thoughtless" state when I can't sleep.

@marlina Nor can I.Don't know how can it be possible for a person to be absolutely thoughtless.
