MLB.com reporter Greg Johns reports the news from San Diego California the Seattle Mariners have placed their ace right handed starting pitcher Felix Hernandez on the 15 day disabled list with a strain on his right calf muscle.
The time on the 15 day disabled list is retroactive to Saturday. The Mariners will replace Hernandez on their 25 man active roster by promoting from their AAA minor league team the Tacoma Rainiers left handed starting pitcher James Paxton.
Paxton will be the Mariners starting pitcher on Wednesday evening at Petco Park in San Diego where the San Diego Padres will be hosting the Mariners.
The Mariners are hoping that Hernandez will be quickly recover from his right calf strain since he is their top starting pitcher on their team.

Not good as the M's are fighting for first place. I wonder if this is why Hernandez has not been as effective lately. He has to be ace form for Seattle to win.

The injury may have been a factor why his pitching has not been as sharp as a tack this year.
