Three Biggest Parenting Pet Peeves

I love being a parent, but there are definitely things my kids do that get on my nerves. Here are my three biggest: 1. Wasting food 2. Leaving lights on 3. Dirtying dishes The reason for the first two is pretty obvious, both waste money. As for the third one, I'm not really against them dirtying dishes in general, everyone does that. It's when they dirty them and don't really need to, such as when they get a drink of water, throw the cup in the sink then get a new cup for another drink of water.

If my boys waste food during one meal, I save it and serve it to the again at the next meal. I hate when my boys whine and argue. One is 2 and one is 6. I also hate it when the 6 year old "tattles" on his little brother all the time, but never does anyting to stop him from being naughty.

my nephew seldom waste food and whenever he cant take the whole thing, we save it in the fridge and have him eat it later. he's 3yrs old and he can push a chair to switch on the light but we dont leave him out of our sight to play with it anyway. and yeah, that #3. he doesnt put his cups in the sink unless we tell him to. he leaves it everywhere in the house.

I fully agree with you on all three. Mine is 10 and I told her if you are going to dirty a lot of dishes you can wash them. Food is not wasted. If she gets something and doesn't eat it, it goes in the fridge and next time she is hungry that's what she gets. If she leaves a light on, I make her go back and turn it out. I also can not stand to be speaking and a child interrupt me.

Oh that interrupting thing is annoying too. My oldest (11) has a bit of a motor mouth on her and there are mornings when she's talking non stop from the time she gets up to the time I drop her off at school and I'm not able to even get a word in. Then, when I do, she interrupts.

@srhelmer I know my 10 year old is the exact same way. I stay on her for that interrupting. It is so rude.
