Today's Into the Groovy (#66) returns us to Canada, specifically the Ontario Province, home of the band Saga. Fronted (then) by Michael Sadler, Saga formed in 1977, and are a Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent to the Grammy's) winner. Produced by Rupert Hine (The Fixx,) Saga's 1981 album Worlds Apart was a Canadian Platinum album, and spawned the hit "On the Loose." The song was a #3 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. #26 on the Hot 100, and #26 in Germany (yet, I can find nothing about chart performance in Canada. Go figure.) "On the Loose" is kind of hard to place. It's not quite arena rock, not alternative rock, not hard rock, yet in a way, it's all of those. Thinking Canadian, it's not Rush (as if,) not Loverboy, not April Wine (and certainly not Bryan Adams.) It is, basically, a hard-rocker that doesn't sound like your typical hard rock fare. "On the Loose" is best-described as one of those great 80's tunes that fell through the cracks.

I did not know this song until I heard it. It's one of those songs I didn't hear at the time but hear now on classic rock and didn't know the name of the band. Good song.

@teamfreak16 Here the station is called JackFM which isn't strictly classic rock but a mix of classic rock and classic 80s new wave. You hear Rush and the next song is Simple Minds followed by Tom Petty then Outkast then Talking Heads. It's rather eclectic and On the Loose has been in the mix.
