Do whales get the food they need?

June 1, 2016 9:02pm CST
Whales are generally 30 meters long and they weigh almost 100 quintal in general. With such large bodies they require at least 3 tonnes of food everyday. In general they require food equivalent to 4 % of their body weight. If they stay in the oceans and seas, they feed with animal planktons, small fishes like squids, krills, etc. With the erosion of planktons due to human projects do the whale get that amount of food required for surviving in the earth?

Yes toni, each organism in the world has a function to maintain the ecological balance. Extinction of many species are leading to imbalance in environment.

Thanks Sol, I have not heard that big whales kill the smaller ones. But they are not getting the smaller fishes due to change of habitat.
