Messaging and spamming

How nice it would be instead of spamming the messaging option was used for better purposes. I have done that. There was a user here who wrote a limerick and used a wrong word which would have been a subject of ridicule had that word stayed there. I quickly sent a message and brought that to their notice and it was quickly replaced.
Let's help our friends to save them from ridicule.

That is normal courtesy. specially among friends. I had a very bitter experience.with something trivial which was blown out of proportion right in the discussion.

@allknowing I'm sorry to hear that - as you say, if there are disagreements there is no need to make them public.

I have private chats with friends through messages. Or discuss about certain topics and decide whether to do a post on them or not.

Specially with friends it is your duty to protect them through messaging so that your friend is not embarrassed in any way.

@allknowing Well said.I wish some would use PM to correct some inadvertent mistakes, instead of commenting.

Specially when the person concerned has been interacting regularly it is upsetting when that happens

@crazyhorseladycx That is why there is a message option because some things are best said through a message.

So have you been getting more spammy messages like we all got about a week or so ago? I will also let people know of typos and other mistakes in a comment on the post itself, and then after it's fixed I'll edit my comment to remove the notice and leave something else about the discussion itself.
I'm not sure that I've heard of any other ways that someone has been spamming the message system. If it is more that are sharing their preposterous claims of some type of income making scheme, they won't ever be concerned about whether or not the message area is the best place to try to enlist members, so in that regard you're communicating to deaf ears.

Of late I have been reading about spamming.
I do not think we should correct people in the discussion itself but send a message. which is more dignified.
