You may have heard people especially in the gym talk about splits. No it's not where you go all the way down to the floor and perform the usual split. It is a training split where you formulate your training days to start from the beginning again and so forth. For instance- let's say it's monday: Chest and back, Tuesday: legs and abs, Wednesday: Shoulders and arms. Thursday: Rest, then on friday you start again with monday and so forth. What I have just created is a basic 3 day split meaning there are 3 full days inbetween for recovery from that particular musclegroup before hitting on it again. During the other 3 days you will focus on other muscles before you do Day 1 which is the Monday again. In this example day 1 starts again on a friday. Splitting up your workouts are very imperative. You simply cannot train the same muscle every day. Muscles need rest for growth. Muscles actually break down during training. It's during the resting phase that they grow stronger and bigger. Nutrition is the most important element that is why we need protein to grow. Not only is protein important but a well balanced diet from carbohydrates and good fats. Complex carbohydrates are necessary if you want to build lean mass as well as good fats or essential fatty acids. Simple carbs are mostly refined and will generally lead to fat gain but are OK to have within one hour of strenious exercise only because of our body being depleted of energy and bloodsugar thereafter.
