Letting go of attachments

It's absolutely ridiculous how over time my belongings accumulated! Not even realizing the emotional attachments I placed on each and everything I had collected over a period of 7 years. I swear I was living inside the show "Hoarders" although this wasn't inside my house, I was moving everything I thought I would keep in my garage.
My loving husband helped me realize that I didn't actually need all this stuff. A lot of it was handed down to me from family and friends over the years. Most of my stuff was given to me from my mom. Toaster ovens, my brother's first snowboard, shelves, food processors, etc.
They were things I hadn't seen in years so obviously I didn't really need them, but when I came across them I would think about who gave them to me and keep it not because I needed it but because of the value of the person who gave it to me.
I began letting things go... the stuff, feelings about them. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Now not only did I get through the emotional process but my husband and I can both park our vehicles in our garage!

Moving can be beneficial. My husband and I have just moved to a different flat/apartment in our house after living in the old flat for over 40 years. We've thrown away a lot of things and still have too many as it seems. Now that we're filling wardrobes, chests and shelves, more things get binned.

We did have the house up for sale and this was one of the major reasons everything got put in the garage. The real estate agents were showing the house and I pretty much had to have it empty. The house didn't sell but we will try in a couple of years. I realized that right now isn't a very good time to move because my son is still in high school and he's doing very well in this area so we will wait.
