Chicago White Sox acquire RHP James Sheilds from the San Diego Padres

The Associated Press reports the news from San Diego California the Chicago White Sox have traded shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., and pitcher Erik Johnson to the San Diego Padres for right handed pitcher James Shields and cash.
The Padres will be saying more than $30 million dollars of the salary of Shields who signed a four year, $75 million dollar contract that he signed before the 2015 Major League Baseball season.
Shields has a pitching record of two wins and seven losses with an earned run average of 4.28 in 11 starts for the Padres during the 2016 baseball season.
Tatis Junior is currently playing in the minor leagues at this time while Johnson will be working as a starting pitcher for the Padres who are currently in last place in the National League West Division.

This is the first big in season trade and the ChiSox are not fooling around about trying to win the division. Shields hasn't been that effective but he goes to a team providing more support and the Padres are picking up most of of the tab.
