Two hundred thousand dollars: I say yes to the dress.

I coundn´t use numbers. That amount is too much to do it otherwise. As I was dying the roots in my hair I was listening that show about bride´s gowns. It seems that the other shows I had seen were for paupers. The dresses went from $2.000 to $20.000. Nothing. I recieve mails (and help a bit) from the World Food Programme Organization. They ask for a couple of dollars. They say that with $5 they can feed well a child in countries where there´s famine. Now please imagine a bridal dress that costs US $200.000. A house. Multiply by the number of chidren that can be fed. That dhess will be worn for a day. And let´s hope the couple doesn´t get a divorce.

After she wears it, how much will the next person pay? $200k is ridicous and beyond materialistic for a wedding dress. Is the dress made of diamonds?

I heard (did not see because I was in the bathroom dying my hair) that there were cristals all over it sewn by hand. More slave work, I suppose. All this makes me mad.

I think the same thing here in the pretend-rich showy California suburbs every time someone drives by in a Maserati "look at me" car. But for the poor, it's really about establishing self-reliance, not just a one-time gift.

It all comes to where is your pride. I am proud now because I dyed my hair all by myself in spite of my rather trembling hand. I´m proud that I got 6 radishes from my garden and ate them. But it is a pity that you are better because you wear a dress sewn by girls who leave their eyes and fingers doing it.

@marguicha I love the six radishes! I've eaten three green beans from my balcony "garden" and will look for more today.

If I ever had that kind of money, I certainly wouldn't be spending it on something like that. That kind of money would be more than enough to renovate our home, give me a proper woodshop to get a small business running and still feed the lot of us for a very long time.

I wholly agree. That´s why I feel there is a double shame. One is the shame of the buyers and the other, worse, is the shame of the show

I never had a fancy wedding. I just went to the judge and got married.

I had a lovely wedding. My mom sewed my dress and it was short as it was a morning wedding.
