Doug Padilla reported the news on Sunday the Los Angeles Dodgers have designated for assignment 34 year old outfielder Carl Crawford. Crawford had a batting average of .185 in 81 at bats which was a factor along with his age for the Dodgers management to part ways with him on Sunday. Crawford will be replaced on the Dodgers 25 man roster by catcher and infielder Austin Barnes who was called up from the Oklahoma City Dodgers which is the AAA minor league team of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. The Dodgers will likely be paying Crawford the remainder of his nearly $35 million dollars salary that expires at the end of the 2017 baseball season. Crawford had been getting little playing time recently since outfielder Trayce Thompson has replaced Crawford as the outfielder for the Dodgers during the 2016 baseball season. Crawford will likely be picked up by another team in the Major Leagues soon since the Dodgers will be paying the remainder of his current salary.
