Any Tips For Motion Sickness?

When I was a kid I was always getting carsick. Even on small trips. My road trip memories included me doing breathing exercises in the backseat of the car, trying not to throw up (and failing brilliantly). I was always told that I would outgrow it, but here I am at 29 and it's just as bad as ever. If I'm not the one driving, then I'm going to be sick. I can't even swing on a swingset without getting motion sickness. Watching a nature program where a cameraman in a helicopter pans over a vast area can make me sick. I'm that sensitive. It's really starting to bug me. I hate that I can't play with my virtual reality headset for longer that 5-20 minutes without getting sick. Surely it's not normal to be THAT sensitive? Are there any ways to fix it or help make it easier? I've heard of ginger helping but never tried it. I've also tried motion sickness pills but they make me drowsy...

Oh dear, you are not alone! My elder sister is so very much exactly in that condition, this is why she can't join us in our travels. I really don't know of any cure to this.

@hereandthere she actually prefers riding a public transportation but must be open type like jeepneys and must be short distance travel only. But we travel long and by airconditioned car so she could not join us.

They thought I had it when I was younger, but it turned out to be an allergy to chicken. I don't know what would help that kind of motion sickness.

@missjessicadawn It's not with what you described. It took a long time for me to come to the conclusion it was chicken and not motion sickness, one thing was that I only got sick after I ate chicken. But combined with the fact we were traveling home from grandma's at the time I got sick, nobody put the pieces together for many years.

I also have heard that ginger helps. You might want to check to see if you have any inner ear problems making you motion sick.

I cannot read while in a car as I will get nauseous and headaches. Just a few sentences will get me there. The only solution for me is no reading.
