Day 79
Psalm 79
Psalm 79:1 < O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
3 Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
4 We are become a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
5 How long, LORD? Wilt thou be angry forever? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
7 For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.
8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? Let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.
11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
12 And render unto our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks forever: we will show forth thy praise to all generations.
What do you do when it seems like you are going from one crisis to another without any rest between? Everything looks hopeless, and you wonder where the light at the end of the tunnel is. Where do you turn for help?
Israel was in exile. Asaph saw Nebuchadnezzar’s army lay siege to Jerusalem. He saw his people cut down as they overran the city. He felt helpless, but he did not feel hopeless. His hope was still in God to save them and come to their aid, and defeat their enemies. His continuous prayer was for God to save his people.
When life seems hopeless, there is always help. God will help us, he will come to our aid, but we need to pray and seek him.
Israel had sinned against God. They worshiped idols, and had no recollection of God by the time Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to Jerusalem and took everyone away into exile. They forgot who God was, and God brought Nebuchadnezzar against them until they would remember him and call out to him for his help.
God is near everyone who calls on him.
Psalm 32:6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou may be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
When you remember God, and turn to him, he will come to your aid and will defeat your enemies and bring you out of your trouble.
Let’s pray: Father, help me remember you and call on you when trouble comes my way. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

I love daily devotions! Do you write your own, or do you use a book? My favorite devotional is "Jesus Calling." It is written by a lady who spent time praying every day, and wrote down what God spoke to her. The book is written like Jesus is speaking directly to us. It's amazing.

@just4him cool :) You inspired me to download Jesus Calling onto my nook. I usually just pick a random day to read, because somehow I always hear what I need to, regardless whether the day I'm reading is the day on the calendar or not :)

We must always remember to trust in Him and faithful. When my life gets crazy I tend to just panic and struggle through it. I need to remember that God has control. :-)
