Tentative Plans

Have you ever had someone make "tentative" plans with you, then if they decide not to go through with said plans, they don't even call or text to say they don't want to? I understand that if plans are tentative, that it's not rude to cancel, but wouldn't a phone call or something be polite? Maybe I'm just expecting other people to live with the same level of respect for humanity that I hold. I'm one of those people that calls a job if I'm going to be 5 minutes late, and I don't cancel plans, even tentative ones, if I can help it. That's just the way I am. What do you think? Do you think it's proper to cancel tentative plans? Or do you think the lack of communication is in itself, communication?

It would be nice for someone to call to cancel plans. That is really the right way to do it. But sometimes there are circumstances that prevent the person from calling to cancel. In cases like that, they should call the first chance they get to apologize for canceling.

And I understand that. I expect to get a call or a text sometime tomorrow, but knowing this person like I do, his excuse will be less than satisfactory. I'm not even sure why I put up with it anymore.

@ChildofGod81 Well then, it seems like you already answered your own question. Since you know this person is unreliable, then not getting a call should have been expected.

@inertia4 he's not usually, I just know how his "apologies" go. And I'm not very nice to him about them either. You would think he would learn. Oh well I guess a butthead is always a butthead.
