Mandrake is the root of a plant derive from the plants Mandragora found in Mediterranean region The plant will have thick upright root, bell-shaped flowers, and yellow or orange berries.The plants are perennial herbaceous plants.The leaves are variable in sizes.The plant almost has no stem. Mandrakes contain hallucinogenic alkaloids and the roots often resemble human figures they are associated with varieties of superstitious practices. They are being used in magical rituals and other traditions like Wiccan and Odinism. According to folklore, it is not good to pull the root from the ground and the person who does will go to hell . The root will scream when it is being pulled out of the ground and will kill anyone who heard it. Hence, people used animals for this. They tied it to animals and was pulled by animals. It is used in amulets for luck and fertility. The root is also mentioned in the Holy Bible.

This plant was also used in the Harry Potter series, I think maybe the first movie. I never knew this existed for real. Interesting facts.
