There is a divide in the world in retaining and abolishing death sentences.
India retained death sentence but in Bacchan singh v State, The Supreme court of India said death sentence can be given in rarest of rare cases.
There are instances in the recent past like Dhananjoy Chatterjee v State, India gave death sentence to the offender.
Do the offenders of heinous crimes deserve sympathy? Punishment also has an element of reformation.

@ilocosboy That is fine. Actually the countries which abolished it feel, the guilty person is not given a chance to get reformed. in life imprisonment he can do useful work.
