Is Hobbes theory that men are selfish relevant today?

Hobbes created his social contract theory based on the fact men are selfish.
He said fear increased selfishness in men and selfishness increased his fear.
Individuals should have power to do everything.
In today's perspective is theory relevant?

Thanks Teemee, it was an old perception. But it is relevant today.

@enlightenedpsych2 Thanks Erica for the comments. My language was similar to the language of Hobbes. I meant human beings. Women are equal and instrumental in state functions in every part of the world.

@enlightenedpsych2 Thanks Erica, the theories of Lock, Rossaeu and other philosophers are worded in the same way.
