What if there was a Dislike button ... or maybe a LOVE IT button?

If they could put a dislike button for those who absolutely positively hate your posts but took time to read it and realized they just wasted the better part of 3 minutes by reading it,so posting a dislike instead of a like might be a good idea to reduce the pay out for those who just don't write very good posts and that would encourage others to write a bit more quality and get more likes. It would be taking it up a notch, or down a notch. Depends on your point of view I guess. If we instead of having a Dislike button we had a I Love it button there would be better results. What do you think? At least this way many of us would be able to gauge our direction and correct ourselves accordingly. Even if there wasn't a dislike button maybe a button for , Bored Stiff. could be used. No that would just be cruel. But I realize based on all the comments here that the real solution would be a LOVE IT button. Think about it this way, if nobody tries anything new, then nothing new will take place. One must be willing to take chances in order to find out the results. If after a basic trial and things don't work out then it is logical to go back to the original formula. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I always say. Along with my next cup of Java, I mean, coffee. enjoy your day! Okay, then, let's replace the dislike button with a I love it button? LOVE IT That sounds positive. I no longer like it, I plain LOVE IT.

That idea is very open to abuse. Some people might use the dislike button out of pure spite.

@lookatdesktop I'm not that keen on the idea of using a scale. I'd prefer to just stick to liking or not liking as appropriate. As the recommending posts, there's already a suggest button.

@lookatdesktop I just saw your edit. A LOVE IT button sounds like a much better idea.

@Gina145 business as usual. Status quo. Better let sleeping hounds lie. Got it.

On Bubblews we got some serial dislikers that would sign up multiple accounts just so they could go on a disliking spree. I once got 135 dislikes in ten minutes. Two accounts went through and disliked every one of my posts. They found new victims by attacking the people who commented on the posts.

As we all learn at the site that will not be named, the dislike button tends to cause dislike wars.

And I have to confess, I hit it accidentally a couple of times.

No way. Some idiots would run around disliking all posts just to be mean and decrease other's earnings.

What could go wrong with that plan? The trolls would be out to bring misery to people. People would dislike any political chatter that they don't agree with, the same for religion, or any other content that they don't like. Soon there will be dislike wars. If you have seen some of the chats online, you know how nasty it can get.

I dont think it is good to have a dislike button, likes and dislikes vary from person to person. Some posts that I like may not be interesting to someone else. And effecting the pay is very bad part. Coming to time wasted reading the discussion, I think the person creating the discussion should be very clear and careful in the title, otherwise readers may waste their time.

Well that is a given. Of course the title of the post should reflect the nature of it. However, I have often read posts that are misleading. Done so to catch the attention of the reader. Often I have to admit I have started a post with a title and led into an entirely different direction with the body of the thing and this is just because of my tendency to make connections that are less obvious to some but more so to others.

@lookatdesktop title should be at-least related, so that only if reader is interested he will read it. I see sometimes posts with one word or couple of words as title, after reading the posts it is no way related to the post, that frustrates because i could have spent that time reading something I am interested. May be you are correct, they want to catch the attention of the reader.

I wouldn't want a dislike button, prone to abuse.

Oh, I hated that dislike button in the other site and I won't agree if it is put again here. I had bad and very sad experiences of that button in Bubblews.

It would be used maliciously.
