The Mayans preceded the Aztecs and outlived the Aztecs by hundreds upon hundreds of years though both were pre-Colombian central American Civilizations. It rose and fell several times throughout the last 2 thousand years it still lives today. and the folowing facts will even surprise you to know about; Though the civilization has declined even now in the rural parts of Mexico and Guatemala the civilization is still preserves and about 7 million Mayans are still living in the Yucatan Peninsula. The world 'Shark' is believed to be of Mayans' origin.They were dangling objects in front of the eyes of babies till the baby was crosseyed. They were keeping the names of children as per the day on which they were born. They sutured wouns using hair, and fille teeth. They used even pain killers.Many courts were found in the major cities. Decapitation and sacrifice of losing team in the BALL GAME was common. The severed heads were used as balls. Saunas and Sweat baths played a huge role in their civiilization which served to relieve impurities.Though they exist today their state was subjected to Spanish rue.
