I hate having anxiety! Today it's really bugging me. I am thinking about having wisdom tooth surgery later on this summer or early fall (no set date yet) and am really having a hard time keeping myself calm. I'm not worried so much about the recovery from surgery but am worried about actually going to the surgeon's office and being hooked up to the EKG and blood pressure monitor and all that stuff before I am knocked out with the anesthesia. I know, it sounds pretty silly but it's a big fear for me.
I've taken all the medication I can for the morning and afternoon, so I just have to deal with it Anxiety disorder sucks!

Third molar surgery if it's extraction it will be over before you know it.As for dentist administering anaesthesia and knocking you out, its nothing like that, what they are gonna do is, inject small amount of local anaesthesia, which will only cause little numbness and you will feel little heaviness in the area around wisdom teeth.EKG and B.P. have to be monitored just to be on safer side but if you are on any medication or have any disease you should definitely mention it to dentist.Don't panic about it as it is the most basic thing taught to dentists and they must be doing it daily and have loads of practice of doing it.Try to distract yourself about something else.Trust me it will be over before you know it.

Dentists in my country do impaction under local anaesthesia and it does take hour or two depending on the situation of tooth. No need to feel anxious, under general anaesthesia you won't even witness it happening.I was so bored when mine happened, what wouldn't I have given at that time to be under general anaesthesia at that time.To be blissfully unconscious to whole procedure.

@jerry260188 I'd actually prefer mine under local but they're going to insist on knocking me out.

I have anxiety attacks, but lately it seems like they are predictors of something else. For example, Friday afternoon at work I had a horrible anxiety attack and it then progressed into a stomach bug of some sort that has been plaguing me all weekend. I wonder if the anxiety is my body telling me something is out of sorts.
I had wisdom teeth out years ago - yuck - no fun. I hope it goes well. I also hope you can get your anxiety under control. I don't take anything for mine other than some Kava Kava occasionally. Mostly I just try to change my focus and breathe deeply. Sending positive energy.
