My Friend's Long term borrow of my bike

June 11, 2016 12:44am CST
Actually, I am not a stingy person and always show generosity to all of my schoolmates. And from one day on, one of my friend started to frequently borrow my bicycle, to an extent, the extreme frequency makes me feel that I don't even own a bike. Worse is I can not cope with some unpredictable incidents which force me to commute between two places because I have a part-time job . Nearly Everyday I am asked about what to do today, If I don't give a definite response then the bicycle should be borrowed. Another schoolmate of mine also goes to lab as the guy does everyday, but he just walk and never ever ask me to borrow a bike. I wonder if this long term deal makes sense or I am just too mean? But I don't want to hurt my friend, he has some false understandings that something somebody else doesn't use for a while can be absolutely available to him.

I have a question. Did you buy that bike for yourself or for your friend?

I know I buy it for myself but he is one of my closest friend and I found it hard to refuse his request. I want him to understand his thought is wrong and one should be independent.

@tiptiptap then talk to him. If he is a friend he will understand you. And you're not doing anything wrong for taking what is yours.

It is YOUR bike and you should be the one who decides to use it. You are not responsible for other's.
