Day 84 Psalm 84 Psalm 84:1 < How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! 2 My soul longs, yea, even faints for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh cries out for the living God. 3 Yea, the sparrow hath found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. 4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. 5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. 6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also fills the pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appears before God. 8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah. 9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusts in thee. Have you ever longed for something so much you thought of nothing else? That is how the psalmist felt about being away from God’s temple in Jerusalem. It was an unquenchable thirst and hunger. The Valley of Baca or Bochim as many manuscripts have it is a place of weeping, a desert place. As Christians, we have nothing to fear from the desert places of our lives, the places of weeping and mourning because God is there and takes care of us. The psalmist likened his exile to that of being in a desert place. He praised God, and knew God would bring him out of exile and take him back to the temple courts he longed to see. As long as we live on this earth, we are in the Valley of Baca, the wilderness, a barren place where we can only glimpse God, but one day we will see him clearly, when we see him face to face and can be with him in his temple courts forever. 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (KJV) Let’s pray: Father, I long for your courts as much as the psalmist. I know my home is with you. Help me see you around me as you take care of me in my journey here, until I see you face to face. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Wow! I can't explain but I got the wow kind of feeling reading this! Kind of touched me. Thank you! I have been meaning to ask this but I always forget. What or who is Psalmist? Is this the name of certain King or a general term used for such kings or persons who are involved in these studies/tales/lessons/stories?

@Daljinder From what I understood, Psalms are the "songs Isreal sang to God". Psalmists referred to a collection of people who wrote these songs. some were written by King David, others were done by prophets. some authors were simply "unknown" as given passage of time, it was difficult to attribute these to a single author

Because of the kind of programming the site uses, certain characters do not allow some of the text to show. In this case, before that

I used to be too attached to my life here on earth. Since the passing of my husband, that has changed. Now I'm looking for ways to do things for others and seeing my real life in the world to come. It's amazing how things can change with one event.

Yes it is. Tonight's message was about growing up and that we aren't the center of the universe. God is.

If we make our own body and mind a "temple," then we never have to long for it from a distance.

As Christians our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, so yes, with having the Holy Spirit in us, we don't long for him.
