Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim activate shortstop Andrelton Simmons from the D L

Jeff Fletcher reports the news from Anaheim California where the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are hosting the Minnesota Twins in the final game of a three game series at Angels Stadium have activated from the 15 day disabled list shortstop Andrelton Simmons. Simmons had been placed on the 15 day disabled list with a tear on his left thumb on May 8, 2016. Simmons had surgery on his injured thumb two days later. The Angels have designated for assignment shortstop Brendan Ryan who had a batting average of .077 in 17 games played for the Angels during the 2016 baseball season. Simmons had a batting average of .219 during he 2016 baseball season. Simmons has two Gold Gloves when he was a member of the Atlanta Braves from 2012-2015. Simmons played six games in the Angels minor league teams the Inland Empire 66ers and the Salt Lake City Bees before his promotion to the Angels on Wednesday during a rehabilitation assignment.

Simmons played tonight and got an RBI. Poor Ryan. He got picked up and now dumped again this season.
