When They Bring Back W, You Know They're Desperate

I saw in the news today that the Republican party has convinced George W Bush to come out of his self-imposed political exile to campaign on behalf of Republican members of Congress because the Republican establishment fears Trump's candidacy will not only lose them the White House, but could cost them key seats in the Senate and House as well.
Considering W's approval rating during his second term averaged only 37%, do you think bringing him out to campaign now is a good idea, or do you think it will do more harm than good?

Curiouser and curiouser this election gets. Now a group of Republican Delegates have started a movement to deny Trump the nomination. But I think W is going to be working to re-elect and elect Republicans to the Senate and House and steering clear of the Presidential race.

Form an outsider's point of view I cannot understand why America cannot elect one of their most brilliant minds as President.
We have a candidate who seems so divisive but people may think he has a magic wand to make issues disappear. And that I think is desperation.
A genuine leader should unite the vast majority and keep the focus of peace and the interests of the majority in mind.
He/she work should with VisionPeaceHopeUnityClarity EmpathyCompassion.
Now it is more of war mongering, divisiveness, casting blame on others and politicking for selfish reasons - self, party, country in that order. The world also needs a wise person to lead America.
Democracy should be made to work for the majority's interests - siva

@DWDavis I really wonder whether some really greats like Lincoln would make an impact now.
There is an underlying cynicism in democracies though it is by far the best we can come up with.
Electing those like Trump looks like desperate situations need desperate remedies - siva

The whole thing has become such an exhausting process that I am beginning not to care anymore and accepting 8 years of a Clinton administration which will likely close out my lifetime. At this point I would not mind all those turncoat Republicans who were elected on broken promises being booted out by Dems starting with Ryan and McCain. That is a just punishment for their arrogance toward Republican voters. They are elitists thumbing their noses at voters not even attempting to make good on promises and in their hatred of Trump (justified or not) forget the voters said NO to their choices (Bush, Kasich) and chose Trump thus voters earned their contempt. To answer you question, Bush seems to be a positive campaign tool of Clinton per her glowing compliments about father and son as to attract disgruntled Rep voters.

What a twisted thing our political system has become. Or has it always been this way and we only see the mess we are living through, with idealized views of the past?
Honestly, though, the Founding Fathers foresaw this day, at least I believe the foresaw a day like it, and that's why the established the Electoral College, so that should the people choose someone unfit for the role of President, wiser and more learned people could correct their mistake. And goodness knows, the voters of both major parties seem to have made a couple of huge mistakes.
The good news is that the election has reached such a level of silliness that Jay Leno made a guest appearance on the Tonight Show because he just had to get some of the jokes that kept springing to mind out there to the public.
