Never I thought of become a teacher in my life. I was lucky enough in my life to become a volunteer teacher to teach the natives in their villages deep in the jungle with no modern supplies. I teach them to read and write. I had 3 classes, one in the morning for children class. One in the afternoon for women and adult at nights. I spend almost 1 year in three villages, the village are not far from each other. Teaching was fun and joy, they all are very poor but rich in spirit. They motives are very pure than the town people. I miss them lo. Have you been a part time teacher or a short term teacher too. Let hear what you want to share!

We were only volunteers, those expert s won't do it in those conditions. Even you have money what you can buy in village far from town.

I once headed a team that conducted a values formation program among coconut farmers in several towns in our province, including an upland community which many said was the lair of rebels. I found the experience fulfilling and saw how the poor were happy of the simplest things in life. The formation and the things we taught them included love of country, love and care for the environment, distinquishing between needs and wants, human dignity and being responsible borrowers (they were all members of a farmers' association).

I tried teaching my 3yr old nephew but he's not into it yet. I let him do what he wants for now. When he asked me about something, i try to converse in a normal way instead of baby talk.

That's so kind of you being a volunteer teacher in the villages for a year. It is not easy since the life is quite different than in the city. The people from the villages will be benefitial a lot from this learning. It may be helpful for their to change a better lives.

They may not know everything, but to create the interest of learning so that the parents will send their children to school. Hoping more village schools and quality teachers for them in the coming future.

It feels great to have students who are hungry with knowledge. I always tell to my students that they are very lucky because they can just walk to their school, they have rooms and chairs. The government also provided them materials for schooling. I just feel frustrated at times because some students cannot see those blessings. I hope all students will be like your former students in the village.

It must be very tough when they do not have a basic education to understand! I do not think I can last a week there.

I'd like to be a teacher but I end up as a tutor. I love to teach kids. I learned a lot from their innocent minds, they question a lot and it sure did me some thinking.
