Tim Lincecum to make his first start of 2016 with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Jeff Fletcher reports the news from Oakland California the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will send to the mound former San Fransisco Giants right handed pitcher Tim Lincecum to make his 2016 pitching debut versus the Oakland Athletics. Lincecum had signed a one year, $2.5 million dollar contract on May 19, 2016. Lincecum pitched three games for the Salt Lake Bees which is the AAA minor league team of the Angels since he has not pitched in any baseball games this year after he became a free agent at the end of the 2015 baseball season. To make room for Lincecum on the Angels 40 man roster, the Angels designated for assignment outfielder Todd Cunningham on Saturday. Cunningham spent one week with the Angels after he was promoted to the team on June 11 from the Salt Lake Bees. It is not likely that any team in the Major Leagues will claim Cunningham from the waiver wire or make a trade with the Angels for his services within ten days, It is likely that Cunningham will return to play baseball for the Salt Lake Bees if there is no team in the Major Leagues that is interested in having the services of the 27 year old outfielder. Lincecum has made a complete recovery from a hip injury that was operated on September 3, 2015 that placed him on the shelf after June 27, 2015 when he was a starting pitcher for the San Fransisco Giants.
