Alex Pavlovic reports the news from Tampa Florida the San Francisco Giants have activated from the paternity list right handed relief pitcher Santiago Casilla.
Casilla had been placed on the paternity list on Friday so he could be with his wife so she was giving birth to their child.
Casilla will join the team on Monday in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on Monday when the Pittsburgh Pirates will be hosting the Giants for a four game series to be played at PNC Park.
To make room for Casilla on the Giants 25 man roster, the Giants have demoted left handed relief pitcher Steven Okert to their AAA minor league team the Sacramento River Cats.
Casilla will resume his role as closer for the Giants as soon he is needed to pitch again this week.
Javier Lopez and Hunter Strickland will resume their roles as setup relief pitchers for the Giants this week after Casilla returned from the paternity list this week.

Basic move. Seems like a lot of paternity leaves this season.

You are correct. There is a season for paternity leaves in the Major Leagues too.
