Do we think news paper reading will improve our knowledge and grasping power, why because watching news in TV is easy, our brain will not work much while watching TV , but when reading a book or news paper it will imagine the things and at the same time will observe the words with eyes, so parallel work are doing is greate. how many of you will agree this reading news paper is good

I think it depends on how you read it. You can try skimming over the newspaper and finish it up quickly (which is good if you're in a hurry) or you could read with your full consciousness on the paper. Also, some people are better at reading while others at listening. :)

@krkumar Perhaps the ability to read fast and retain information can be enhanced by reading the newspaper a lot. What do you think?

Reading and hearing are also important, hearing make your reading more interesting. We communicate with others through words of mouth and ears of understanding others saying. Both should go together hand in hand.

@krkumar Some are great readers, but not a good speaker. [may be lack of hearing] Words seem stuck in the mouth.

yes I agree with you, hearing also gives us the same response , both reading books and hearing some thing is same but the grasping way is different

Yes agree with you. Newspaper reading is a very good habit. It comes for fewer bucks but it has lots of news in it. This discussion reminded my school days too. Everyday our class has to be a part of newspaper reading as per rollnumber. Daily one has to get the headlines from newspaper and read loudly in the class. Keep smiling

It's been a while since the last time i bought a newspaper. I used to read them because my landlord has a subscription and i enjoy answering the daily crossword. Honestly though, i dont mind watching it on TV or read it online. Doesnt matter, it's still the same news whichever platform i use to view it.

Yes, reading news papers will surely increase your knowledge and also will help you to improve your vocabulary. i will suggest to read minimum two different news papers.

I think reading the newspaper is important for improving our knowledge and also to have a better grasp of the English language but it takes effort. Generally humans are lazy and take the easy way out and just watch and listen passively instead of reading actively.

I completely agree with you, with reading we do learn the spellings too. Now a days, children do not read newspapers at all, they are up to date by watching TV, but very bad at spellings. TV also to great extent improves our knowledge, but reading is a must.

I think so... I don't read newspaper that often, like you said there are TV news to listen to. But I would prefer reading about the things I like, crafting for example. I read on how one certain thing can be made and I do it at the same time. Reading and learning, all in one.
