#1 in my Favorite Cover Songs series takes us to both the US and Belgium, the respective homes of the founding members of RevCo. RevCo (the band's radio name, short for something that would possibly get this discussion yanked) started as a project for members of industrial groups Front 242 and Ministry (namely, Al Jourgensen.) Eventually, the band would utilize a "who's who" of industrial stars as guests. RevCo's 1993 album, Linger Ficken' Good...and Other Barnyard Oddities, contained the band's hilarious cover of Rod Stewart's disco classic "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Stewart's 1978 original was a massive hit, a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as a chart topper in the UK and Australia. (Fun Fact I just learned from Wikipedia: Stewart donated the song's proceeds to UNICEF.) RevCo's version was not a hit, but it did receive play on alternative radio. It's definitely the more fun listen of the two.

fun version - I like the original for its monumental vanity and cheesiness in even asking the question in the first person

The original is a disco classic, despite the cheesiness. I do like this version a lot, though.

When that song originally came out and I hear Rod Stewart singing, "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" all I could do was shout at the radio, "NO, Rod, I don't think you're sexy!!!" I don't know if they're serious with that version, or if they deliberately did it that way because that's what the song truly deserves, but it's great!

I would like to think they purposely did it that way, because it's so funny.

The video makes it even better, but it would've offended somebody, so I felt it was wise not to link it.

Can't say I remember the group, but I am sure I saw the album all those years ago!

It is a pretty noticeable album cover.
