My Paypal Account Is Limited?

I checked my Yahoo email this evening and browsing through several emails since the last time I logged in last June 15, I was struck by one email and it's from service at Paypal dot com. And the subject was, Unusual Activity in your Account which was received last June 16, a day after withdrawing money from my Paypal account to my bank account. I was shocked in an instant. My Paypal account is the one I am using to withdraw my earnings from my online jobs. It is also connected to myLot and my paying applications on my Android phone. So, if my account will be limited, I might not be able to lift the limit. Where am I going to withdraw my earnings? But I tried to be calm. I tried not to panic and checked all the details from that email. It said, my account is limited because they noticed significant changes in my activity. And because of that, my ability to send, receive and withdraw money will be affected. And in addition to that, I will not be able to remove my bank account, credit card (which I do not have) and close my account. So, it wants me to click on a button, that looks really like a legit button going to the resolution center of my Paypal. BUT... I did not do that. I looked at the name of the sender -- service@paypal.com. I checked the email address of the sender, it is paypal@service.com. Something is wrong. I checked the emails of Paypal when I received or withdrew funds and the email address is different. I searched on Google and there were cases of phishing or scamming using those emails. So, please be careful when you receive an email telling you that there's an unusual activity in your Paypal account or your account is limited. You might be a victim of phishing. I logged in to my Paypal account through a secured connection and not through the link given on that email and I had seen that my account doesn't have active cases on the resolution center. That means, it is not true that my account has unusual activities and not true that my account is limited. Have you received an email like this one? Now, I am wondering how they got my email address and it's a coincidence that when I withdrew money, that was the time they sent that email.

I have had my paypal account for more than 10 years now i think and that account has been very active with hundreds of dollars coming in and out since i made one not because of online paying site but because of my own business. So i have had received several scammed emails like this and in fact PAYPAL company themselves have warned people about this and they have a support account where you could send a copy of that email to them so they could flag that person. I have never been scammed in paypal at all.

@brokenbee There's a way of telling whether the email is from paypal or not.

@toniganzon Yup, but when you see it for the first time, especially if you haven't opened the email yet, you might think it's a legit email.

Me, too. But my account was already limited before and that's one of the reasons why I got nervous again.

when you receive an email addressing you as Sir or Dear Subscriber, or anything to that effect and not your real name, there is something going on. phishing may be the reason for that. i hope your account is safe

@brokenbee the PayPal has sent some reminders about how an email that is fake looks like.

Yes, Ate. It is still safe. Thanks. It really looked like a legit email except that it doesn't bear the Paypal logo and the email address is suspicious.

I received the same email long time ago but it was real. I logged on to PayPal and send my Proof of Address. I wrote about it online so maybe they copied that

Yup, me too. In 2013, I think, when my account was limited, the first time I had withdrawn my funds to my bank account.

Not my fullname but my initial and full surname. I was thinking if it has something to do with my paying apps. Hmmm
