If you visit Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh you will be put to great embarrassment when you try to find an accommodation. The place is the abode of Lord Shiva and devotees visit this place with great devotion. The name Srisailam is referred in all most all Prayers in Hinduism. It is just like giving your addresse the Lord mentioning ' who you are and where you stay on the planet earth and what you are praying for'. But, once a traveller get down the bus and starts inquiring about accommodation the people will ask you about your caste. Is it not surprise? The only reason is that each caste has got their own Residential accommodation for the people belonging to their own caste. If a Reddy wants an accommodation he will go to Reddys' Choultry and seek accommodation there. If a Brahmin wants accommodation he will be provided accommodation in Brahmins' Choultry. Recently the Government has got constructed some good Rest Houses in which anyone can find a stay but this is not so easy and not within the reach of a common man. Their usual reply to a visitor would be 'No sir, accoommodation is not there right now.' Either you should reserve you room in advance or you should show some letter of recommendation. The beauty of Srisailam temple is that the Priests allow you inside the Sanctum Sanctorum of the temple irrespective of your caste and explain you how you touch the LINGAM or Phallus. It is only outside the temple one will find the element of caste based accommodation but once you enter inside it becomes really a myth. Everybody will get the opportunity to touch the Phallus and more over the priest explains the advantages and benefits of touching the Phallus WHICH MANY DEVOTEES DO NOT KNOW TO THIS DAY EVEN. The priest will tell you to touch the PHALLUS with your Head but not with your Hands. REALLY A GREAT PILGRIMAGE PLACE TO VISIT AT LEAST ONCE IN A LIFE TIME.

Good thing is that the Srisailam temple priest doesn't differentiate.I didn't know that Shivlinga shouldn't be touch with hands.I always touched shiv linga with hands whenever I went to a nearby temple.

It's a great idea. I support this kind of system.
