The Associated Press reports from Kansas City Missouri the Kansas City Royals have released infielder Omar Infante, 34, after he was designated for assignment on June 15, 2016. The Royals will pay Infante the remainder of his nearly $14 million dollars that remains on his contract that will expire at the end of the 2017 Major League Baseball season. Infante who is a 14 year veteran of the Major Leagues will likely be picked up by another team in the Major Leagues since they will only have to pay him the minimum salary to have him as a reserve player on their team for the remainder of the current baseball season. Infante started his career in the Major Leagues in 2002 with the Detroit Tigers. Infante has played as an infielder with the Tigers, Atlanta Braves, Florida/Miami Marlins and the Kansas City Royals.

The Rockies released Jose Reyes so that is two infielders some team will tale a chance on. Infante is the surer bet to get another contender.
