Jerry Crasnick reports the news on Friday the San Francisco Giants are interested in acquiring Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim infielder Yunel Escobar in a trade before the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline on July 31, 2016. Due to an injury to the Achilles heel of infielder Matt Duffy which placed him on the 15 day disabled list on June 24, 2016. Even though his injury is a minor one, the Giants believe that the addition of Escobar in the Giants roster will increase their chances of making the playoffs this year. The Angels are not in playoff contention this year so do not be surprised if they decide to trade Escobar to the Giants or any pennant contender before the trade deadline. Jeff Fletcher reports the news on Friday that Escobar has a knee injury that will keep him out of the starting lineup on Friday when the Angels host the Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Escobar injured his knee on Thursday during a baseball game versus the Athletics. The timetable on when he will return is unclear at this time.

Interesting. Escobar signed a one year deal so the Angels could get something in return. I thought the Giants would pick up Infante to sub for Duffy.

Time will tell which team will have Escobar before the trade deadline. Some trades backfire sad to say in Major League Baseball.
