For non-Ilocano readers, dinengdeng is an Ilocano classic recipe which mostly are native vegetables. Every region have their own dinengdeng specialty but one main ingredient which is bagggong or fish auce extract.
I cook our lunch today and my ingredients includes kardis or green beans, squash blossom, kabatiti or sponged vegetable, young leaves of string beans and my grilled mackerel fish.
I did not include saluyot or jute vegetable because I thought too much vegetable already in the list.
Well, serving time.

I learned to eat and cook that from Ilocano friends of the now defunct Philippine Constabulary of the former dictator
. I love " balayan" fish sauce in the boiling water where to drop the veggies
ampalaya or bitter melons and egg plant is also a nice addition to the concoction and any grilled fish placed on top before covering and putting off the flame

@ilocosboy i use to hate it, it's like eating grass lol, but remember i have Northern lineage in my blood, it's very healthy when you learn to appreciate it
yes the small native ampalaya is the best, the only down side is the salt

surely, that is an Ilocano favorite, wild ampalaya is common in our region and just grow during rainy season.

@louievill well, we are always connected to grass, you know aside from dinengdeng we have other menus like buridibod, pinakbet, liningta and so on.

@ilocosboy Yes, kids don't like vegetables. They prefer meat, hotdogs, bacon and other sweet products.

@ida123 it's really hard to convince them to eat vegetables.

@ilocosboy saluyot leaves are dark green leafy vegetables, so are the leaves of the bitter gourd, or any leaves for that matter.

We cook kardis with ground pork. What I like with my dinengdeng is patani or palamingko...
I like the aroma of that bean.

Because only Ilocano knows this veggies recipe. One chef in our city who is known international is serving this recipe in his restaurant.
