The Associated Press reports the news the Pittsburgh Pirates have purchased the contract of 23 year old right handed pitcher Chad Krol from the Indianapolis Indians last week to replace Curtis Partch who was designated for assignment on Sunday.
Krol was a ninth round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft out of the University of Delaware.
Krol will be pitching at PNC Park on Sunday evening versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers will send their best left handed starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
I am sure Krol will have plenty of butterflies in his body having to make his debut in the Major Leagues on Sunday Night Baseball to a nationwide audience that will watching the game on ESPN.
It is not clear if the Pirates intend to keep Krol on their roster after his first starting pitching assignment against the Dodgers or send him back to Indianapolis after the game versus the Dodgers ends.
Partch will likely be going back to the minor leagues with the Pirates organization if there is no other team that is interested in having his services for the remainder of the current baseball season within the next ten days.

I am just about to watch Krol take the mound against the Dodgers. It's the ESPN game tonight. Kershaw is pitching.

That is true. I just wonder if Krol is nervous before the game or calm as can be.

I know what you mean. Pitching against the Dodgers in front of a nationwide audience can test the nerves of any rookie pitcher.

@TheHorse I understand that the Giants versus Dodgers goes back to their days in New York City and Brooklyn respectively.
