One problem with dvd recordings you can not take it with you

With DVRs if the person move and the DVR box is not his. He can not take the recording with him. what I miss with VCRs and DVDs that records I can take them with me I am moving This week and I still have direct tv but it a different person who own the house. So I will not have anything I recorded. This the only thing I do not like about DVR.
