Patrick Reddington reports the news the Washington Nationals have promoted from their AA minor league team the Harrisburg Senators on Monday.
Giolito, 21, will replace on the Nationals 25 man active roster right handed pitcher Stephen Starsburg who has been placed on the 15 day disabled list on Sunday with an upper back strain that happened during a workout session last week. Even though the disabled list time goes back to June 16, 2016, the Nationals are not going to rush their ace starting pitcher when he is eligible to come off on Friday until he has fully recovered from his injury.
Giolito was a first round draft choice of the Nationals in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft out of Harvard-Westlake High School which is located in Studio City California.
Giolito will make his debut in the Major Leagues on Tuesday when the Nationals will be hosting the New York Mets in the second of a three game series to be played at Nationals Park in Washington D C.
Giolito is being groomed of the future stars of the Nationals when he was drafted out of high school in 2012. He will get his chance to impress Nationals manager Dusty Baker and National general manager Mike Rizzo to prove he is ready to pitch against some very good hitters in the Major Leagues on Tuesday.

Losing Strasburg is a major blow to the Nats. They need him 100% but they are actually underachieving expectations.
