Crazy Age: Women's Fashion Accessory

In the 1980s, way far back then for a lot of us, and if you're a woman, do you recall which fashion accessory used popularly for power-dressing women during the '80s?
This accessory was created for the appearance of extending the acromion of the clavible. Did men have these on their polos and shirts, as well? Or they just improved their shoulder abs to give them a lifted up look?
So, what's that women's fashion accessory again to extend that look of clavicle-pride?

Hated those things! I used to rip them out and throw them in the trash. LOL

I was so insecure, so, I added those to look "smart". Huge pads like I was a classy football player. LOL!
