The poet Francis Scott Key wrote a poem about the british/american war at Fort McHenry in 1814. He matched it to an English tune of that time called "To Anacreon in Heaven." In 1931, the U.S. Congress inacted the song titled "The Star Spangled Banner" to be my country's national anthem. Here are the words: Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? You can learn of this wonderful poet at usinfo.state.gov/usa/infousa/facts/symbols.htm

American Flag - American Flag with the sun setting behind it
Here you go. Not only our flag but a beautiful sunset in the background. Or is it a sunrise? Since I love sunsets I will view it as that.

I am from Greece so trying to translate that in english it would fo like: "I know you/i met you/igained you from/because of the sharpness, of my sword, i know from the your glorious appearance, spreading acrross the earth, oh freedom that you resulted from the blood of greeks...etc..it is quite difficult to translate exaclty, it talks about freedom, and all the fights, and wars we did against turks for greece to become an independent state after the collapse of byzantine empire by them.

The best thing you could have done, is to say something about your national anthem to make the response even more interesting.
