I have seen a bowl in the Silver shop. The design is very nice. The shop owner informed me it is pure silver and weighs about 500 gms.and advised me to go for this one. He also said that it was a kind of investment .
The bowl was given an Antique look in floral design.
Do you think purchasing silver and gold is really an investment?

Yes, it's an investment because the price of gold and silver never go down. It continue to go up. That's a nice bowl. Go for it. How much is the price? I hope it's worth it.

It is nearly 500 gms. In the Indian Currency, it costs Rs.24,000 ($400). Do we get the price of the day when want to sell it ? Will they accept it? No..they again deducted 10% towards wastage charges from the price it costs on that day.
The shop is getting benefited without any investment.. Is it not.? He is taking some of your profit for no work..

Does this silver shop have an online presence? I suddenly need to invest in one of those bowls.
I 'invest' in silver and gold coins... the ones I chose, the Australian Silver Lunar II coins, have value beyond that of their silver that makes them very collectible pieces. I purchased my first one as a way to celebrate the birth of our first daughter, and the collection just kept growing from that point.
The one thing with gold and silver as an investment is that it's typically not something that can be a short-term investment. The real gains are seen when the gold and silver are held for years.
