The Associated Press reports on Sunday the Arizona Diamondbacks have placed their right handed starting pitcher Zack Greinke on the 15 day disabled list with a strain of his left oblique muscle. The time on the 15 day disabled list is retroactive to June 29, 2016 which means Greinke is eligible to return to pitch for the Diamondbacks after the Major League Baseball All Star Game break in mid July. Greinke had an MRI exam on his injured oblique muscle on Sunday that forced the Diamondbacks to place their ace starting pitcher on the disabled list on Sunday. Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale is not sure when Greinke will return to pitch for the team. The Diamondbacks will replace Greinke on their 25 man roster by placing their outfielder Rickie Weeks back on the active roster. Weeks had been on the bereavement list since June 30, 2016. Diamondbacks will have right handed pitcher Zack Godley replace Greinke on their starting pitching rotation.

After a rough start, Greinke has had a good season. But the DBacks spent a ton of money on hum thinking playoffs and they are going nowhere.

All that glitters is not gold with the Diamondbacks despite signing Greinke to a huge deal so far.
