Don't Over Stay Your Welcome, The Vikings even knew that!

I am quoting the following (in quotations) from a website. I'll give the link down below for reference. "Cattle know when to go home, and then from grazing cease; but a foolish man never knows his stomach’s measure." or.. Don't over stay your welcome... I was just bored and looking through something I came across. 80 Viking Sayings. I was scanning through, not reading every one of them but rather picking and choosing. So far, I like this one. However, I get more of a kick out of the fact that the translation is in late Middle English to early Modern English. I'm not exactly sure when this was translated though so perhaps it was translated along that time. After all Old Norse isn't really thought of much, only a handful (outside of Icelandic Speakers) even speak it. Oh, did you know that the Icelandic language has changed very little over time? So little is different between Old Norse and Icelandic. Of course I don't know what IS or ISN'T different between the two, but I recently read somewhere that they were very much the same. Anyway : Source for part in quotations is :
Stanzas 1-80 of the Norse Havamal -- a collection of poems and sayings from Chief Odin.

Same with me. I didn't pay them much heed. I didn't enjoy learning about the in history class when I was in school either.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I liked history and the teacher I had in high school made everything so interesting but I don't recall much about the Vikings.

@Marcyaz Here in NC, the last year we had to take history was junior year. I remember that teacher was awesome, open book test, watching bonanza. He made history fun. Of course he was hardly EVER in the classroom with us.

@just4him Neither do I. Sometimes i feel I UNDER STAY mine. That is, I've got friends that I only seem to see once or twice a year, such is life.

I thought so too! Sometimes I just get the urge and search for the most random of things.
