Why do you choose to stay in your religion?

Why do I choose to stay in my religion? Is it because it is perfect and everyone is good? Is it because those giving directions are flawless and never make mistakes? Is it because we have a flawless understanding of the Scriptures? No! It is because I can accept the ethos (the guiding beliefs of a person, group, or organization) and that is why I joined this religion in the first place! It is because all beliefs are continually scrutinized so that they harmonize with the complete Bible, whether they are accepted by the rest of the world or not. We must do what God commands. It is because we correct things when we realize we made mistakes. It is because I feel safe and loved in this group. We have eliminated many things that divide the world and make like unpleasant (such as war, smoking, ethnic or tribal hatreds, etc.). Why do you choose to stay in your religion or why did you leave or lose your religion?

I never had a firm belief from my home. So, when I grew up. I decided that I could not understand what the idea of God or Gods meant. It doesn´t mean that I am atheist, but I am not a believer either.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Do you ever attend any "place of worship"?

@1hopefulman I go to church for some weddings as a social activity. I think that the last time I went to a church for spiritual reasons was when a Pope was shot. I believe in the power of colective prayer (or good vibes) so I went to pray for his well being. That was decades ago.

My religion and faith has given me a wonderful future and hope to look forward to, that is why I choose to stay :D. (Jeremiah 29:11)

I have a slight problem with the word religion as it's often used any more because it indicates a rigid adherence to a group or leader. I'm not saying that's what you mean. To me, a relationship with God is more important than a group of people and their ideas of what is right and wrong (although fellowship is important). I have that relationship with God and I would never give it up. He truly means more than anything in this world to me.

@1hopefulman,I am born Hindu,am living as a Hindu and like to die a Hindu.I am a Hindu, because my religion allows me to criticise it,and even to leave it if I want to leave it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! What if you had been born in another religion, what would you have done?

@MALUSE May be,but then if I had born of the same Hindu parents,I would have been a Hindu- a Hindu born in an European country.Even now there are many Hindu children who are born in UK,France,Germany and other European countries.

I'm not religious. I'm a good law abiding person, but religion is so far fetched I cannot believe. Also almost all wars were caused by religion from the past to today. I believe the world would be better off without religion. And another thing I would mention, you will find just as many criminals in churches as out.

I respect your choice and glad that you are law-abiding. But just like a knife, religion can be used for good or bad. If only those with religion would follow the path of love and those without religion follow the path of love.

@1hopefulman Absolutely true, we should all love our neighbors and do good to all. We would certainly have a better world.

The latest 60+ years I have followed the religion I am in, I have learned more what the Bible teaches, than I never thought possible, I still learn about its advice for life - so many practical things - how to deal with people, and what to expect what will happen in the future. I often go to jw.org and read and listen. The Broadcasting is so interesting. Everyone who wish, can go and listen!

I know what I believe but there are a number of groups that I would be happy to align myself with. Unfortunately we don't live geographically near any of them. We still observe what we know whether we can meet with others of like mind or not and teach our children what we believe. There are a few scattered people in the area that we can get together with once in awhile.

Why? Because it's the religion that I've known since I came into being.
