How is your Workplace Changing?

I used to be the Head of Change at a company I once worked with, in part this meant that I was looking for ways to innovate the processes the businesses used (e.g. through the implementation of IT systems) but it also meant that we studied have the marketplace was changing. Does your workplace take change seriously? Is the future looking rosy or is the marketplace collapsing at the moment? I have been asked by a client to get a feel for how global markets are changing right now and wanted to see what MyLotters felt about their current workplace economies. Are the economic fortunes up or down where you are?

I teach school and we undergo change all the time, and usually not for good reasons. As far as technology, we are finally replacing the last of our Windows XP computers with Windows 7 computers. Schools seem to stay about a decade behind on technology.

Sir, that is something that concerns me greatly. Kids going through the system will be using the latest release of Windows 10 at home. I am not sure why the school boards elect to do that. Never done any work with school boards, but I think it shows they don't take changing environments seriously enough.

@pgiblett It is primarily a matter of funding. The conservatives in our state would rather fund beach reconstruction in front of rich people's homes than provide up to date technology for the schools. As long as they are in charge of the purse strings, our school will fall farther and farther behind.

@DWDavis One reason why our system of representation needs to change so that real people control the things that need doing.

@pgiblett I am semi-retired, but when I was working full time, I was a pianist at hotels. Now, there aren't many pianos at hotels these days, because it's too expensive to pay for a pianist. It's more economical to use a CD player.

Timothy, that is quite a thought. I do recall a pianist playing in a few hotels I have stayed at, usually at the more executive locations though. In my view canned music or CDs don't have the same impact.
